Jara Beekeepers Association Achieves International Audit Success
The Jara Beekeepers Association (JBA) successfully passed an external audit conducted by Caucascert Ltd, an organic certification body, from June 3–5, 2025. This year’s audit was notable as it was observed by DAkkS, the German Accreditation Body and official accreditation authority of the Federal Republic of Germany, which simultaneously assessed Caucascert’s auditing process.
The comprehensive review included a witness audit of JBA’s internal inspectors, an assessment of the Internal Control System (ICS) and its implementation, on‑site inspections of member apiaries, and an evaluation of the JBA processing unit. The audit concluded with no major or critical non‑compliances, only a few minor corrective actions — such as updating one beekeeper’s documentation, revising two ICS documents, and conducting an annual training session for internal inspectors. DAkkS praised the professionalism of JBA’s internal inspectors and the quality of Caucascert’s audit.
The result is a successful reflection of the ALCP2 and JBA’s dedicated teamwork to make bio certification sustainable for the Association as the bio mark is essential for the premium marketing of Jara honey in international markets. The ALCP2 implemented by Mercy Corps Georgia, is funded by the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) in cooperation with the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and Sweden.
